A nice 4-6" coming in tonight. Nice and manageable, a couple salt runs, clean up with the skiddy. Good old New England!:pound::dance:

Yeah, we only got about 4" here, now there is flooding rainstorms. Kept us busy for 12 hours. House isn’t mine, but the dog is. He does pretty good for being 13 years old.

Commercial. Mostly monitoring, maintaining walkways with a little plowing.

we got about the same, Bill. A lot of ice too, some still on the trees. I'll try to get a few pics tomorrow before it all melts off.

I'm doing some stacking tomorrow with the ASV. Good $$$, but quite frankly, I'm quite sick of it and would rather be getting ready for spring. Next guy that says they love plowing I'm gonna punch in the mouth.

MBella, we got so much friggin ice followed by rain, a lot of asphalt is still covered. I bet your property managers that have you on 24 hours for an 1" of slush would be having a cow right now.

It's been a crazy week here too. Got 2-5" depending on what side of town Sunday night. 2" on Monday. 6-14" on some of our sites Tuesday afternoon into evening with rain that froze the top inch after. Wednesday dropped about .5" on all our places. Let's see.... Shattered the rear leaf springs on our International on Tuesday from heavy salt weight and cold temps, hydro line on our of our boss V-plows ruptured, air system in the Sterling salt truck had moisture in it so the rear brake valves were opening after they froze releasing significant pressure or basically eliminating the brakes, and the International blew an oil line that goes to the air compressor this morning. All has been fixed thanks to our reliable mechanics nextdoor and the big problem now is the salt shortage across northern Ohio. All the supply yards are out and we had 2 triaxles bring in 15 yards each this morning behind our shop which will only be enough to get through our route twice. Snow expected tomorrow morning and again Monday with no guarantees of more salt deliveries. Should be an interesting week.

Meanix,
We actually lucked out and were hooked up with a guy that deals directly with Cargill in downtown Cleveland so my partner's buddy from the firehouse is gonna bring us a couple triaxles for reserve. I think driving out to you guys would be a huge undertaking with 4 triaxles.... Thanks anyways...

If only I could find pictures of last year's valentine's day storm. You guys guys would s**t yourselves if you saw some of these drifts on our lots on top of the 18" of snow we got.

Ground Effects,
We got 12-18" in most of our lots lastnight. It was ridiculous. Somehow we still managed to get everything done in time though. 2-4" tonight and 4-8" on friday. Ok this plowing stuff is getting old. I remembered to take the camera with me last night so I'll post some pics tomorrow when I get some of our loaders too.

OMG...that's crazy!!!. For the last 3 years, we haven't had more than 1-2" all winter. It's more of an annoyance. Last big snowfall was 18" back in 2003

I am jealous, But it all comes down to the $$$ I'll take it. We have not had a winter like this since I was a kid …LLLLOOOONNGG time. Looks like August I’ll start hardscapes, then October we’ll start plowing.

P.S. calling for 6"-8" Now for Friday

Here's some pictures with about a foot on the ground and still snowing from Tuesday. Wednesday we got 3". Friday we got 3". And Friday night we got 6". We plowed 6 days in a row this week. Here's some pictures I snapped this week. Some big drifts. That's me in one of our loaders. BTW, it's a lease for the winter we keep in one of our larger lots. I usually drive the International pictured.

Lawnkid, looks like fun. Yesterday, I had the displeasure of flying into Cleveland and it didn't look like there was that much snow on the ground.

My unpleasant experience had nothing to do with Cleveland, but with the person sitting next to me.

Maybe, you plow his driveway?:)

lawnkid, do me a favor and dont put ur metal clip board on ur dash like that, or at least dont post pics of it. it make my blood boil when my guys do it in my truck and just seeing it raises my blood pressure. it scratches the hell out of the dash and etched aluminum into my windshield on my 450. then my buddy gets in my personal truck and puts his on my dash and scratches it, argggggggggg.

awesome pics though, maybe someday we will see snow like that again, once every 5-7 years.

Yeah I didn't see that cuz I was in the loader but I probably would have overlooked that. The other day I was driving the International and the wipers had accumulated some ice on them while on the freeway and I couldn;t see because it was snowing so hard so I stopped the wipers on the windshield, hoping the defog would melt off the ice. Well it didn't so I started pounding on the windshield like an idiot and I'm sure you can all guess what resulted from this. Crack! On top of my new crack, the wiperblades melted on the window somehow?????? It's just money...... :yield::emptybath:

well, when you keep getting pounded like this, the bad things are just gonna happen. the plow guys and the equipment are getting really tired around here. To make you feel better, here's a list of sh!t that's happened to us in the past week or two:

backed into drive-thru canopy, pushed sander into back of bed (pick-up), smashed back window and bent the bed into the back of the cab.

Same truck is having some kind of transmission or electrical problem so it's not shifting right. limped to the local shop in 2nd gear the other day. Truck was towed to dealer, and they can't find anything. Can't wait for it to happen again! It's already happened twice now.

starter died on dump truck (both of our trucks were down at the same time)

New guy on first day had a chunk of ice fall behind the bucket of ASV while he was loading snow and shattered the windshield. The windshield alone is $467.

Knocked (broke) the side off the dump truck loading snow (another chunk of ice)

Broke a bucket cylinder on the ASV

Need to move the ASV today to move more snow but because there is no door, the ignition is frozen.... finally got it freed up, and there is no juice at all. I don't know if I broke the switch, or the battery is dead. The way things are going, I'm pretty sure I broke the switch.

:yield:

I bet you're feeling better now, huh?

I can't wait until I am laying pavers or putting some plants in. However if it is anything like last year we have another two months before that will happen.

GreenMonster,
My list goes way beyond that but we also run 12 trucks and two loaders so we're comparing apples to oranges. But yes I feel your pain man. We are all sick of this weather. Get ready for this weekend ladies. We have 5-14" in the forcast by Saturday night. They are comparing this one to valentine's day last year but this snow is gonna be wet and heavy not fluffy.

I was in Indiana for Christmas, so this snow will be the first time I will have dropped the plow this season other than on my driveway after we got back... I'd rather it come overnight, plowing during the day won't be a whole lotta fun. :(

Yeah, I much prefer working under the cover of night. As if the people trying to get out or kids trying to play arent bad enough... the glare from the sun on the snow is killer.
