This is a concrete footing that a support for a dockhouse mounts too. The concrete is starting to chip off on two sides. The client doesn't want to rebuild it from scratch which is clearly the right way to do it. Client just wants to patch it and I am fine doing that. Whats the correct way to do it? Some areas need to be built back out 4".

Probably should have taken care of that when they lowered the lake huh? What about a steel sea wall put in and pump the water out non stop till complete. I would think that is the best but expensive way.

Don’t know, Just a Idea try using angle iron. Make a frame around the top, sides with a larger angle iron on the bottom to make a shelf. Use wedges and wood cripples to hold stone in place until setup. Then cut angles away, finish smooth?

I think I would tell them I am not interested if all they want to do is try and patch above the water line. good luck with that.
If I had to repair that thing and not replace it I would first drop walls around it and pump out the water. clean any loose debris and etch with acid.
Because it looks like a fairly thick patch I would rule out multi purpose grout, which would be my first choice any day for a patch of this app. I would dowel into the pier with rebar and form around the pier allowing 2-3" around it. In other words, I dont think I would just patch it, but encapsulate it inside the new pour. Apply an epoxy resin to the whole thing and immediately pour with a modified concrete.
I love working with a line mix. Very high cement content and very workable.less aggregate. combine it with latex or polymer modifiers and you will have one grand new pier. Talk to your concrete supplier and ask them what they supply. powder or liquid.

i agree i wouldnt sign a contact to just fix above water line. Im going to assume its lake hopatcong matt? If so the water level is dam controlled and always changing. Plus, The new patchwork is just going to crumble when the concrete below it gets worse. this doesnt seem like a typical rusk job... lol
