I know I've seen thin pavers for overlay applications, but does anyone know if anyone makes thin bullnose?

I have a good client of mine that was going to have his liner replaced on his pool, and asked if I wanted to do the bullnose since we did the patio or if he minded if the pool company handled everything. When we originally installed the patio over 6yrs ago there was the alumn. bullnose on the pool so we just did a border of pavers around the pool. The pool company gave him a great price, and its a very large firm that was going to do the work so I said no hard feelings have them handle everything. While there the other day dropping off plant material for one of my crews, I just so happened to glance at the job the pool company was doing, and noticed that they would never be able to install bullnose around the pool, and it would sit about an inch higher than the patio now. He is now getting the run around by the company, and is stuck with an incomplete job... so of course it now becomes my problem.

First thought was natural stone at 1", but he doesn't like anything. The pavers are Salmon/chestnut or I know techo earth brown matches as well. Anyone have any other thoughts or ideas? :noidea:

Im sure Adam will chime in. In a thread awile back he was making his own bullnose on one of his travertine jobs. I think he had a special attachment for a drill?

This company has a 1" bullnose with a 1 1/4" reveal. Perhaps they would ship to you?

Its a water equip diamond bit on an angle grinder for routing the bullnose. I would imagine the high polish left from the bit wouldn’t match the texture of the rest of the paver? I might be wrong though...

Thats a good point Captain. Pavers aren't colored all the way through.

Yeah no that wouldn't work with the bit. I tried to sell crab orchard but they didn't like that. That thin bull would work great, besides color.

Look into clay bullnose made by pool tile manufactures.

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys. Ends up we are sticking with 2 3/8" and regrading a large portion of the patio, simply due to the logistical nightmare of trying to get special pavers shipped in and matching colors. I do however have another question. It is a typical steel walled pool with the alumn. lip that the liner tucks under... not a problem pour collar blah blah blah. The problem I see is the star entrance. Any entrance I have done on a steel wall pool, the steps have sat on top of the sill and was approx the same height as the paver. We simply butt the bullnose up to it, and run a boarder against the fiberglass or plastic. These steps are flush with the steel sill. Originally I thought collar under and around the steps mortar half the bull and glue the other half ontop. Would most likely work, except for the alumn. lip that is around the pool of and addt'l 1/2" height, that is not on the steps. I would have to make up the 1/2" ontop of the plastic steps. The are curved steps, and I am thinking of screwing cement board to the stop and gluing to that, then just caulking it. I'm a little concerned with flax being an issue, but if I put a deep collar around the steps I think it should hold. Anyone else think of anything better? I have pics on my phone that I have to upload to the comp that would probably help. Thanks
