Here are a few pics of my crew installing moss at the newly remodeled Chicago Shedd Aquarium Oceanarium . Its always fun to work next to the dolphins.

How do they keep the moss thriving in there? Keep it misted?

The moss is preserved with a special chemical. It will stay green for many years then it will have to be replaced. There is no watering needed. We are also installing branches (or shoots). The branches have leaves to mimic shrubbery. The end of the branches were dipped in the preserving chemical as well. They should stay green as long as the moss. Everything is real.

Are they glueing it on or foaming? did you guys build the rock face also? Really cool project.

The moss is being placed with spray adhesive.

I wish I knew how to build those fake rocks. Most of them are build with a specialized concrete. The ones that cantilever are made of a plastic compound.

I will post the finish product later.

You already answered my two questions.

How to adhere, and preserve.

I'd imagine that they hose it lightly, because like silk plants indoors, it could look dusty after a while. But that's probably a cleaner interior than many.
