I am building a new pond for a customer that will be installed in an existing concrete pond. We are going to demo the old concrete pond and build a 10'w X 15'L pond and the customer wants a liner. The question is can I overlap the liner over an eight inch block wall and still mortar a cap of some sort on top of the liner? The pond wall is going to extend about eight to twelve inches above ground. The look she is going for is more formal kinda like a relecting pond.
Thanks David

I attached a liner to a concrete pour a couple of years ago. I made sure the attachment points were well above water level, and siliconed them very, very well. I sandwiched the liner between the concrete and a piece of leftover aluminum edging. This allowed us to adhere a piece of limestone on top of the concrete. Finished product looked like this, on the right side of the pic:

I also did something similar under the bridge we installed, though the water level was less of a concern. Same situation though- it was poured concrete. I don't exactly remember what anchors I used, but I think it was plastic anchors and stainless steel screws. I may have put nylon washers under the screw heads to separate them from the aluminum but don't remember for sure. The bridge was another piece of limestone and was sitting on a concrete pour on each end:

One thing you have GOT to be absolutely sure of when you do this- make sure you leave some slack in the liner if you can and make SURE that the ground will not settle at the bottom of the pond. Last thing you want is to stretch the liner so tight because of settling that it rips.
