Mega huge longshot but anyone have anything out there? Currently at home in the UK and its mega quite.
Myself and fiance keep looking into moving out to the states but havnet a clue where?
Plus you need jobs to go into as well, have 3 years experience with planting, turfing and some design work, have done patios and some hardscape stuff but could do with some training
worth a try

anyone have any ideas about emmigrating over there?
Will, I'll tell you first hand that moving 1/2 way across the country over here is a big decision. It's tough, no two ways around it. If you have no kids it is a bit easier, but moving with younger kids in tow is by far one of the hardest things I've done in my adult life. Hard on us as an immediate family, and hard on our extended family too. Not to mention our decision to move had to be made in under a month's time...
If you have nothing really tying you down over there (a house, family, etc), then it should be a bit easier of a decision. However, if you have considerations like those I don't envy you a bit- our move would be a cakewalk compared to what you are looking at. At the very least we can hop in a vehicle and be back "home" in around 18 hours. You have to hop on a plane to do that if you come over here.
To be brutally honest, the job market isn't rosy and great right now, but I think you probably already know that. However, in this line of work employers are ALWAYS looking for someone who is dependable- first and foremost- as well as trainable. Quality contractors don't really care if you know plant "A" from plant "B" as long as you are willing to learn them and show up every day on time and LISTEN. If you are willing to take an entry-level position (and can afford to do so), then by all means explore it further. I'm sure you've got skills past entry-level though, so a bigger corporate company might be a better fit for you to "advance" in.
I hope it helps. It won't be an easy decision, and I certainly don't envy you a bit making it. I think most of us here on this site will give you the best information we can and not sugar-coat it, so feel free to ask any other questions you have. Good luck.

If you have a hard time making things work for you in your own country what makes you think emmigrating to a foreign country and starting up a business in hardscaping is going to be any easier? Especially in a country that is in one of its worst economic downturns since the depression, I think you need to rethink that one Will. I can't imagine how tough that could be on yourself and family. I do wish you good fortune in whatever you decide to do though.
