For 2010, I want to increase supplies for Masons and Masonry jobs. To help me make sure I have supplies you need, I am looking for your list of ten items you expect your supplier to have every day. You can certainly list more than ten, but that should give me a good start in ensuring we carry the items you use most. Also, is there a hard to find item that no one ever carries that you need?

Mike:
We are adding premixed bags soon. We just build a new storage garage and now have room to add the pre mixed bags.
The garage should be done early Jan, so I anticipate having product in house by end of Jan.
Thanks.

You know Steve, my box of red pencils is always full when you walk in, but always seems empty after you leave. Hmmmm.
As always, we have free red contractor pencils, Woodward pens and candy treats.

Chris, Danf is hounding me to stock red pencils. you think I could mail order a couple boxes from you?
Hounding? Really? When is the last time I said anything about them?
But, yeah, get the pencils before next season starts, since this one is pretty much over. :D

1. 4” diamond blades for the grinder
2. String line and line levels
3. Line stretchers / holders
4. Angle Irons
5. Couple chipping hammers and trowels
We often need to travel to the rental specific shop to rent things like the ‘diamond hole press saw’ and some more masonry specific drills. It would make since for you to rent these items, or offer to perform the service for a fee.

We sell a box of them for $27.50 (basically our cost). Makes a great stocking gift. We always have plenty.

Are there common angle iron sizes and what do you use them for?
We have done rentals in the past, but it is hard to keep up with the equipment when season is hot and heavy. Good idea though...thanks.

I guess it depends what level of ‘masons’ you are trying to solicit. If your target audience is just hardscape specific, then you can skip out on the angle irons, refractory cement, flu liners, etc. When you say ‘masons’ whom exactly are you trying to accommodate?

Hi Chris
If you want to take a ride to a North Jersey Masonry Supply yard this winter to get some ideas. This place has tons of stuff nice indoor(6,500 sf) and outdoor displays. Maybe you can network with them to get some ideas.

Certainly looking to help out the hardscapers, but I would like to do more business with true Masons. I don't think there is a well outfitted store in my area for them.

I can attest to that....Braen is definitely a supply house with a general selection (but good stock) of masonry supplies....I do like this place
