I have yet to travel more then 45 miles to a job.....I think that is what you're asking. Some places around here I would be willing to travel up to 300 miles.

This is geared towars Woodwards. I am asking what their range is for making deliveries. I'm sure that some of our Jersey boys might like to know.

CGLand, I'm from the general area and Woodward is about an additional 50 miles west of Allied in Dresher and only a few miles away from their Limerick location. But I can personally atest Allied has a larger delivery range than woodward. Maybe Woodward will eventually respond to this forum and we'll find out.

I live in by the drafting room on Rt 100. We're based out of Warminster, PA in Bucks County, but today we're putting in street trees in west goshen right by the airport and QVC. And another crew is in NE Philly. And our third is working in a development by 401 & 100.
Is it more money after a certain distance from woodward? like over 50 miles? We use Allied b/c of their superior customer service (if you guys at Allied read this remember this when I see you at the bar at MAHTS hehe j/k)but seriously, delivered on time everytime by a spyder, endless knowledge amongst their staff, a well run yard and the newest products and tools in the industry. What more could I ask for? It's like the old saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. For us, Allied works, in the downingtown area... as long as you don't goto Mainline Concrete you should be fine.

Amen to that! .....add A-1 Mulch to that list

Hey John, does Allied charge you extra for a spider? I believe that is Woodwards policy. In defense of Barbara and all the good people at Woodward, they have always been very prompt with deliveries and have never messed up an order for me yet. I'm not sure about Bucks county, but I've had them deliver out here to Morgantown and also a few spots on the Mainline and delivery was reasonable. Now if only there were better parking!

Is the Barbara from Woodward from Gardner's? I used to work at Gardner's on 113 a few years back and I worked with a Barbara in the greenhouses. I'm sure she's around somewhere at one of the one million nurseries in this area. Long hair with glasses? She used to crack me up.
Anyway, I've never used Woodward, so I am by no means putting them down. Allied does charge for the Spyder, but I guess that depends on how many deliveries you get in a year.:wof:

John,

I don't believe it's the same Barbara you are referring to. I think I know who you mean. I use Gardner's quite a bit for shrubs and perennials....a lady named Sue works there now. Steve may know for sure. I know he used to work right next door to Gardners.....

Sue & Scott are still good friends of mine. I helped grow the hot-house tomatoes in the winter there and sold christmas trees in the bitter cold every night. Nothing like sweating in a 80 degree greenhouse all day then going out into the cold! Sue & Scott taught me most of what i know about perennials and shrubs, Great people! I still talk to my mexican buddies up there too. Rob carries top notch material and has endless resources for large material. He literally knows everybody who's anybody in the industry. Rob Montgomery used to come in since his shop is next door. He's won the Phila. Flower show a couple times I believe.

Hi, this is Barbara at Woodward Landscape Supply. I apologize that we haven't been online yet. Looked at the site and was very impressed in December and then got inexcusably tied up with vacation and foot surgery.

So, anyway, we have delivered throughout eastern PA as far west as Lancaster, north to Doylestown area, Philadelphia and into Delaware. Unlike many of our competitors, we don't price delivery to make a profit on the delivery charge, it is intended to cover cost. So we are pretty reasonable even for longer distances. We operate two large crane trucks, a small crane, a spider, a large and 3 small dump trucks -- so we have a lot of capacity. We keep five drivers on staff year round so we can deliver with a minimum lead time. Even in February. We use the trucks and drivers to pick up material when we are slow keeping our incoming freight down.

Look forward to hearing more from all. Thanks! Barbara

Hi, No, I did not work at a nursery before Woodward Landscape Supply. I did work for Gartner Group (odd similarity) in IT consulting,

As to delivery range, I thought I had posted a quick reply but don't see it so I guess my IT skills are a bit rusty.

We deliver anywhere in Eastern PA and northern DE. We have 8 trucks and do crane, spider, large & small dump deliveries. Our policy is to cover cost but not mark up delivery .. we believe it is a key service. We try to hold open a spot a day for a regular customer who gets in a bind a needs a quick delivery response.

Stop by our Open House March 8 to see trucks, meet drivers, win great prizes and enjoy a cookout.
