Hey folks this site is ace, i run a small landscaping business (www.willsgardens.co.uk) just South of London and we keep getting requests for more hard stuff.

I have done a few patios for customers but only small scale stuff, we have a big ''to us'' 10m x 6m patio to lay for a customer.

Whats the deal with bases for them? As far as i understand its dig down the depth of materials

3" sub base compacted
2" sharp sand compacted
then pavers on top of all that.

I understand the whole screeding thing but anyone albe to explain it more to me?

Great site with loads of info here, ill keep lurking and posting where i can.

cheers Will

Welcome to the site Will. I copied this thread and posted it into the Hardscaping forum, which is the appropriate forum for construction questions and where you are more likely to get some relevant feedback.

Lots to learn on this site Will, good to have a brit on board! My family (moms side) is from Cornwall. Best buddy of mine grew up in Portsmith.

Cornwall rules, i used to live there for a few years just working and surfing when i could, good times.

Living where i do is good for business with loads of new homes and the like but the weather is bad and there is nothing good to do

I finally got some pics up on my site, anybody have any critique for me about it? it badly needs improving but im not sure what to do with it
