Hey guys...I have been thinking that I would like to put together a volunteer project that is in the spirit of Christmas and green industry related. Perhaps, procuring and delivering Christmas trees to a certain number of needy families.

I am looking for ideas and other members that would want to volunteer (in the S.E. PA area).

I realize it's a little late, but there's enough time to put something together.

What I have done in the past, back home, is purchase stew from my church. First, I am supporting my church. Then I purchased other foods to go with it + a Poinsettia and it was delivered to needy families known by the church.

A Christmas tree is a nice gesture but to be honest I would prefer to give food of some sort. Depending on the food you can reach more people due to the cost involved. I also like to involve local community in the effort through either their own contributions or by purchasing from them vs Wal-Mart.........Wal-Mart and companies alike you can approach though as sometimes they will give you a good deal when you tell them what you are doing.

What we did last year was have everyone volunteer ( yes they were paid so it really was a company thing)to drive delivering hampers full of food and presents for an existing organization. A really rewarding experience.

I like the idea of something green related and you could be on to something good ... A Christmas tree would be awesome but i can think of too many negatives about it. Need a stand, decorations, it drys out and burns up... :noidea:
