thanks guys. I would recommend the crane to anyone moving stones this big. Man what a back and time saver. We laid down underlayment to protect the rubber and went though a bunch of foam. Use the yellow foam for large voids then touch up with the black, huge price savings. When the annuals have grown some more I'll post more pics and the house beds also.

How many tons of stone is that? 80 or so?? It's always nice when the budget is fat enough for the right equipment.:)

Keith
I figured 65 tons for this job and used 65tons! If you figure in the steps yet then yeah probably 75-80tons. The crane (40ton) runs around $85hr, we used it for 7hrs I think.
As long as you can place stones in your mind about 4-5 stones ahead it goes really smooth. We did place some of the larger stones in the bank with a mini x and bobcat!

85 per hour, is there a delivery fee with the crane. I have been moving some boulders around and been thinking a crane would be sweet.

there is a 200dollar minimum, but other than that straight fee of $85.
We trucked the boulders in using a guy who was excavating there, $575 for that. He even loaded down at the quarry.

Thankyou,
I am having algea problems on the falls though and its driving me crazy. We have a recirculating pump (10k gph), but we also ran a pipe into the falls from a natural spring to help fill the pond up faster. I and a few others think the spring might be contaminated by to much nitrogen and is causing the problem. We have Nice big koi in the pond that we dont want to kill with chemicals. So if anyone has advise then I'm all ears :)

Algaefix is fine for small ponds but he would need a 55 gallon drum for that pond. Plus you have to keep treating the pond with algicides. Throw a bunch of marginal in there and you will see a difference. Look for a wholesaler that has a good price on watergarden marginals that are hardy. My wholesaler is REALLY cheap on his hardy marginals if you have no luck in your area.

alot of people are afraid to use it, but all of our farm ponds get treated with copper sulfate, and for 15 years none of the fish have been hurt.....just use in moderation

coppersulfate killed one koi and all the amurs in this pond so we are not going that route again. Keith can you explain what marginals are?

Bog plants, that will be in approximately 12" or less of water . I use pickeral, sweetflag, rushes, cardinal flower, thalia, cannas and more that I can't think of off the top of my head. I would stay away from cattails since they can be very aggressive
