How many of you put conduit under your hardscaping for future wire pulls? What size do you install? We do it on every job.....just in case!

We generally do 2" on every job just in case. I usually leave a piece of string in the conduit when it goes in and tie it to a piece of caution tape on both ends. This helps to find the conduit at a later time and gives me something to use to pull the wiring for the lighting through. I also duct tape the ends of the conduit to keep it clear of debris. I try to write down measurement markers of where the conduit is also, but I seem to forget more than I remember.

I like your caution tape idea. We have a 50' wire pull. Cost like $30, great for pulling wire through pvc. I have had string break on me then your screwed.

I had to fish a string through conduit after the fact a few times. What I found to work the best is to actually take a piece of masking tape and wrap it around the string and make it into a ball about 2/3 the size of the diameter of the conduit. Then stick it in one end and use a wet/dry vac to suck it out the other end with the string in tow. Works like a charm!

BINGO ... Did cell phone towers one winter and they would pretty much do the same thing.....only over 500 feet.

We install at least one 2" conduit on all walkways (well, usually). The layout dictates whether, or not additional conduit is installed.
Many of our jobs include a lighting package, or irrigation, so it is needed. However, for the other jobs, at the very least, it communicates to the customer that you have put some thought into the project and taken measures to prevent undermining it in the future.

I love contractors who think about the whole job and sleeve.

we get sleeves put in on all new houses, every 20-30' on a new concrete drive, and one pipe next to the garage door, then a sleeve under each sidewalk, usually just one. All our sleeves are 4", in case we have to run irrigation lines, lighting wires etc anything will fit

Depends what the sleve is for. My irrigation sub normally mets me on site with a sleve plan and deliveres me the pvc that he wants me to use. So then for lighting i will normally just run 1.25 inch electrical conduit.
