Here is a driveway job we did this year. It was a royal PITA! 800 lf of border, (4) 10x14 rumble strips, 3' collar in front of garages, walkway to fountain. The hardest part of this job was getting the radii smooth. Once marked and cut, it looked good, but when you looked at it from a distance it looked real choppy. Took a bit of time to get it where it is. probably could have spent 3 more days touching up the cut, but ........:frusty: The product is Techo Hera. The border is slate grey and the body is sandalwood.
You can see that we actually made the driveway wider to accomodate his huge RV

Chris,
How thick do you have the asphalt paving? I plan on having my drive paved with asphalt and use 2 3/8 pavers for the border. I guess most asphalt drives are 2"-3" thick?

In this project the driveway was repaved w/ a 2" overlay. Overall the paving is probably 5". The reumble strips and the border were excavated to 2' to accomodate the extra weight of the RV.

looks good Chris, couldn't talk them into paving the whole thing? $$$
Looks very nice....I like the border around the drive....I have to say, the asphalt and the border does give it a simple look which looks really nice in that application.

Thanks guys! The customer didn't want to spend the extra on that. We will be doing a fairly large project there next year. They are building a garage and they want a 20' dia. circle in front of it plus a few pillars and walls at the entrance to the driveway.

That's a lot of edge restraint.....I'm confused, Did you cut the asphalt or did you have the driveway paved up to the height of the pavers?

I am guessomg these are pics after the grass came in since i do not see base 12+ inches past the edge of the pavers.

Matt - Doth your keen eye fail you? You can clearly see the difference between the new grass and the old grass. We are 12" min our goal was 16"
Mike - The only reason you can see that grass is because it's in the picture
Capt - For the walkway, we came in prior to the paving and set our pavers to a height predetermined by the paving co. For the rumble strips and borders we cut the asphalt after the drive was paved (4 months) The reason is....They took care of some runoff issues w/ the topcoat, so we couldn't come in prior.
