I am doing a mutli layered retaing wall. The back yard had a railroad tie wall that the builder put up across it approx 5 ft tall. We took them out and doing a curve wall across the back yard approx 90ft long and 2ft high on the first teir. The second teir is starting 16ft back from the first one and it will be approx 2.5-3ft tall (80ft long). On the first teir I would like to put steps in the first wall. I looking for recomendations on how to put the steps into the wall. the wall is being built out of 12" garden blocks and the drainge will be tied into the drains we are putting in throughtout the back yard. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Garden blocks? 12x8x4 type windsor blocks? Use them for your rise and overlay with bullnose pavers for the treads. Maybe you can tie a natural stone slab for the steps. Need more details on what your asking for.

Thanks for the help the blocks are 12x8x4 windsor blocks trying to incorporate the windsor blocks into steps, thinking of off setting the blocks and using a pavestone paver of some sort of for the steps. kinda like what you said about the bullnose

I would also recommend the bullnose pavers on the step.

If it is a budget job I would use wall caps for the treads.

With that block it is hard to find a suitable wall cap that fits the overall look and demensions of the garden block around here at least. The little blocks can really be a major PITA.

You can also look at a different style of pavers for the tread. I saw a set of steps using Belgards Mega Bergerac that looked really nice. Maybe use some natural stone caps. Look and see what can work with the overall landscape and house design.
