I am planning a seminar schedule and wonder what you would be interested in seeing? I plan to hold the following (dates will be determined by my open house on March 7):

Permiable Pavers...late April

Cleaning/Sealing pavers and Poly Sand Install (new Techniseal RG plus)...May

Fireplace Kit Installation...May

Quarry Cut stone veneer installation (on the fireplace)...June

Dates are tenative...I will update exact dates soon and post them.

We will be running our "Contractor Saturdays" from March to August. Contractors can sign up to assist constumers from 10-2 (minimum). Dates will be offered to "regulars" first, but I will try to have slots available for other contractors who use use this year.

Contact me if you are interested in a time slot at woodwardschris@gmail.com or 610-983-9810.

I am also looking into partnering with Water World for some kind of a family day...may need a couple of contractors to help out for that.

Chris,

I think Permeable pavers is a great idea, especially with the tightening township restrictions that are becoming more and more prevalent. Techo bloc had a nice video tutorial that they put together on the subject that they presented at the contractor showcase.

Cleaning and sealing pavers......not so sure if I would attend that one as it's something that is pretty cut and dry from a technical standpoint. If you do have a seminar on this and it's more geared towards contractors, I would focus on how to market, sell and bid maintenance to existing paver customers and then go into how to clean and seal.

Fireplaces, veneer, or anything masonry or natural stone related is the way to go. I see things trending back towards natural stone once the economy recovers. I think a lot of guys want to get into doing more masonry, but there is a real lack of training out there. You can have all the icpi and ncma certs out there, but not know where to begin with laying block or veneering a wall......and the liability on masonry work is tenfold to that of pavers or srw. This makes good training and seminars all that more important.

On that note, some other suggestions I would consider for seminars, would be-
Dry-stacked natural stone walls
Working with Boulders
Installing patios on new construction (overdig stabilization)
Installing and selling travertine
bidding and installing low voltage lighting

Just some suggestions. I know you can't do them all, but it's just some food for thought over the next few years.

I wouldn't mind helping out on a Saturday. So how does that work? Do you fill all the slots with "regulars" and then have "not so regular" alternates on call if a regular backs out?
