Has anyone bought the all inclusive tool kits they sell or the soldering kit?

I have both, and they are invaluable. If you are serious about lighting, it's a must have. It is on the pricier side, but for me it was just easier to have them put the whole thing together in one package.

Vic,
I agree. I bought the Cast tool kit at one of their classes. It was discounted, but still expensive. It has everything you need, is organized, and comes with spare parts. You could probably save some dollars putting together the kit yourself. But I was pleased with the purchase.

i think it will be like $800 for the two kits. i'm going to do some lighting at my house this month and i have a few customers that were interested last fall so i think i'll go ahead and dump some dough.

The tool kit is a great asset, and whether you buy the kit or build the tool collection yourself, you will definitely realize the value very quickly. According to Cast, the meter they sell is specifically calibrated to work with low voltage as compared to most meters which are calibrated to line voltage. As for the soldering kit, I'm not really sold on the idea or concept. There are quicker, easier and less dangerous ways of making secure electrical connections in the landscape. Carrying around a pot of molten lead can be a disaster waiting to happen. Ace connectors and Buchannan crimps are just as positive of connections and are safer and easier to install. All of these methods must be inserted into a waterproof housing, like a 3M DBSR.
