I have a potential customer who had a spa beside there pool that is built out of fiberglass/plastic. it is a recessed, built in unit with a 6" tall surround that sits on top of the concrete.
My question is: How would you go about veneering the sides and top of this to give it a better look? is there any way to attach stone to the top and sides of this plastic/fiberglass casing?
It also dumps into the pool, so you would have to veneer the water fall also.

Here is a picture of the pool. I didn't think to get a picture of the spa at the time. How would you do pavers and coping in a situation like this? Would you have to remove the current surround or work with it?

SC, is that pool a liner pool or fiberglass? I can’t tell from the picture. We will need more information to give you better direction. As for the hot tub, it sounds like a solid molded piece that is specifically designed to cascade into the pool. I think you could "doctor" up the sides and coping with veneer, but I doubt you could modify the cascade itself. My experience with pools is limited, so some information about the pool and spa would help.

That looks like a liner to me and the white coping holds the liner in place. I was told that if you want to install a bullnose coping the white aluminum coping has to be replaced with a flat liner track. The pool guy I spoke with said this usually requires a new liner because it's difficult to do this without ruining the existing one. On the job I was pricing this added about $3000.00 to the cost.

Why couldn't you use wall caps as a coping and just glue them to the concrete?

For the spa, you're best bet may be using a small tile and tiling all sides, including the top. This would give you a clean look and keep it lightweight. What's currently coating the outside of the fiberglass?

it is a liner pool. the spa is white molded fiberglass that is somewhat sqare with rounded edges. I don't think tile would work. the only though i had was puting Concrete block around and veneering to that, but i wouldn't know how to do the top. I don't know if the morter will adhere to the fiberglass to hold the top veneer.

what about blocking it up, veneering it and installing a bluestone cap to cover everything. You may have to cut some light hatch marks in the top of the fiberglass to allow the mortar to adhere OR use a flexible adhesive on the fiberglass

Where are the controls located for the spa?
