View Full Version : Year in Pictures - 2008

This is a thread to post pics of all your favorite projects from this year. :photo: Let's try and keep the thread clean and let the pics do the talking. We have great talent on this site, and I thought it would be great to start an annual, year end picture montage, or showcase if you will. This isn't a contest specifically, but there may just be some voting toward the end of the month.

Zedo,
That is a tough act to follow so I will follow it with a different type of hardscape. Completed this job last spring. I stopped over there for a christmas visit, thought I would snap a few pics.

Here's some pics of the travertine job. Last one I took the other day from the neighbors roof, while we were hanging her xmas lights. Grass is almost all in.

That's a beautiful job. Cannot wait to get our current travertine rollin. Adam, that picnic table needs a table cloth, candles and a bottle of wine in order to qualify even to be in the pics of this install. And Rusky, I love the synicism of you photo input. Not that that job looks bad....but c'mon, I have seen many of your pics. Either modest, lowering the bar for others, or..or...let's just say I choose C as my answer.

LOL I just wanted to lower the bar for others! I post enough pics of my jobs, I dont think I need to post pics in this thread. So I scans my computer for pics of jobs I have no posted and this was the only job. I got a few other small jobs I never took pictures of.

Buried inside of alot of block and stone there is a Firerock firebox and chimney. Kit was 46" x 7'. After block work it measures 8.5' wide and 13' high.

Pavers/ stone still need to be cleaned but there is no point with all of the mud on this job. Landscaping and sod in the spring. Maybe the house will be done by then for some decent pics.

Almost everything is Pavestone. I use it b/c every Tom, Dick and Harry uses Belgard (good product) and I wanted to offer something different and I have not had any quality issues to date. Not to mention they are a little cheaper

Thanks for the nice comments, I certainly appreciate it. I will post some more as I have some time.
This was a "remodel" job. There was an existing patio that was rectangular that ended about where the bump-out was to the fireplace area. The budget for the project didn't allow us to tear too far back into the existing patio to "randomize" the transition to the new pavers when we laid them. The colors have all but evened-out already anyway.
We subbed out the fireplace, and the homeowner didn't like the look of the matching EH Henry veneer stone in matching "Harvest Blend" color. I thought the dry stack and color matched pretty well to the existing patio hues. I added "Pewter Blend" medallions to tie the whole thing together with the fireplace veneering.
The whole thing drains at the curved wall where we installed a scupper drain to take the water to the only lower grade of the yard. Works like a charm, thankfully.

My back patio. Can you tell I saved scraps for 2 years to build it... very fruity pebbles

Dry stacked, double sided, and varied in thickness by more than 1". Probably the most meticulous job I've ever done..and I had to build 2 of them.

I really like the stacked tumbled bluestone. I would've beat up the edges on the cut pieces a little, but overall it's extremely clean. Well done.

Thanks...actually I did, but just enough to hide the cut marks that would be visible between the gaps. that's what I notice too when I look at the pics.
