Did some work at this guys home 3 yrs ago and then again last year, he just bought a new home so this one is for sale. I have put an offer on it and am planning ahead of the game just in case he does accept my offer. I am looking for suggestions as to what to plant along the front yard, the yard slopes gently and is a large corner lot, house is really out in the open and I want more privacy. I know I need some deciduous trees and some evergreens but where and how many, this is not my specialty so any advice I will take with an open mind. Thanks.

Zone 5, here are a few more summer pictures of the front, should give a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Wow, beautiful house! Are you thinking along the lines of street line planting? I would add a few more Colorado Blue Spruce. For deciduous, I really like Zelcova Serrata (Green Vase) or Yoshino Cherry....wide and full, but not too huge or too messy. Maybe throw a nice size bed on the corner with some shrubs and perhaps do three Sekkan Sugi Cryptomeria? They get a golden color in the summer and stay around 25' tall.
Got anymore pics?

Wow, never even heard of that type of tree, are they good for this zone? Its very in the open and I want to make the house not so "in your face" by planting all along the borders of the ditch and some mass planting somewhere. The corner bed would be a good idea but I don't want to be pulling weeds all day either. Looking from the bottom up

Yes Andy, all those trees are hardy to zone 5. The Cryptomeria is probably on the fence a little, though I see it's listed on some sites as hardy to 6a and others say it's hardy to zone 5.

Does the owner have a racing obsession? I'm going to personally drive there and punch him in the head if that's a Ford GT under the snow. Killer house though

Well that is a gt and his garages are full of real old muscle cars so it takes a back seat believe it or not. His winter car is an amg 55. :boink:

You must be doing alright if you're going to buy the former home of a guy like that:humble:
