Here's a job we just wrapped up the other week.
Probably one of my favorite customers to work for:dance:.
Pisa2 wall with sandstone capping. (got that form Matt:spy:)
Brussells pavers(2nds) saved them 4000.00 on paver material.
pisa2 steps with sandstone treads. and sandstone steps going to nowhere.
told them they could put their thrones up there!
Next year the ugly concrete wall will hopefully get veneer and sandstone caps like the lower wall.
and plantings. I will do a drawing for that this winter.

WOW slight improvement. Did you think about alternating the tread lines on the steps? Are you going to do the planting?

2nds are mess-ups color, height, etc.
they do test runs to get the right color, so some bundles are slightly off color. get the pavers for a 1/3 of the cost.
Not sure if we get the planting yet. She wants to see how the design is first.
thought about alternating treads, but didn't know if it would look alright.

Your steps would be greatly improved asthetically by offsetting the caps like bigvic said. Did you cut the lip off the pisa to get your caps on.
You used my favorite pattern there for the brussels, we call it the "Y" pattern.

Definitely a huge improvement. The work looks good, but as everyone has mentioned the sandstone steps relly detract from the overall look.

I thought that the way I installed the steps worked the best?( guess not!):noidea:
So you guys think offsetting the lines would have been better here?

Looks good. i don't think you could of done any better with out a huge budget, a mass excavator and a 100 tri axles!

What really does it for me are the slivers going up the steps.

chris,
those slivers were just bad planning and layout by me.
the right side cuts in more than the left. plus I couldn't get 4ft wide treads I had to use 3ft

Wow are the joints in the upper wall running up and down the whole way? Please tell me my eyes are playing tricks on me... or that its a poured wall.

What I would have done is start with a whole piece on alternating sides so the joints are staggered. The final piece will also be bigger and it won't look too bad

yeah, it seems as if you tried to center everything on your first step and it just worked out the way it did. You won't make that mistake again. Other than that though, the flatwork looks really good.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to make this job any more difficult than it already is. I hope you charged extra to chisel off those ridges on the pisa. Why not just use the pisa caps for the retaining wall and sandstone for the steps?

it was an upsell Zedo.
I personally hate pisa caps so I talked them into these.

Ok, just hate seeing someone go to all that extra work for the same money. I feel better now! :) Overall nice job.
