Love pictures 9 and 10 Mark. Very beautiful work, nice to see so much quality work on this site.
Thanks guys
Zedo - those pics are actually of a job we installed a couple years ago. I was back there this summer to look at a drainage situation and was eager to see how the plant material had developed in that area. The intent was to make the area really rocky/ledge looking with plant material that fit somewhat of a rock garden theme. It's funny some people either hate it or love it.

I was wondering myself how the plantings might look at maturity. I bet the ho's love it. I know I would be in heaven there.
This is the view that sits in front of the area....approximately 75 feet away. I think you guys have seen this shot before, talk about heaven!!!

what happened to bottom step...
what happened to bottom step...
I noticed that...I was minimally involved on this job and the mason who installed these....let's just say we don't get along too well. I stayed away during his involvement. What I do know is that there was an existing set of concrete steps and landing there and we were just hired to veneer them and install the treads. So, my guess would be that it was what it was. But again, I'm not sure of the whole story.

Hey, what do you want me to do? Show you the paper work I filled out everyday for the last 12 months? Or record my conversations with vendors and architects throughout the week? That's nothing I want to show off, so I'll stick with taking credit for what everyone else does!!! Boy you Jersey boys are rough!:) Thanks for the harrassment, I didn't get to see greenmonster this weekend to get my share of abuse, so thanks for picking up his slack!:)
How you doing anyways Bigvictu?

I'd like to see that paperwork....probably a bunch of crossword puzzles.:)
Ohh, and I'd love to hear the conversations with the vendors and architects..... "Hey Mark, we'll be delivering the material, just as the purchasing manager ordered." "Hey Mark, your guys installed the materials just as we laid out in the plan...Good job!"
Ever see the movie "Office Space" Mark? I bet your favorite line is "I'm a people person, damnit. I know how to talk to people."

Hi Mark
The dry laid bluestone work you do looks fantastic. I am a big fan. What do you charge per sf. to install that product and how much time/ man hrs does it take you to install a 500 sf. patio including excavation and base prep?
Here's some of some interior work we did a year and a half ago. I never saw the inside finished and furnished until today.
and one more.................

Beautiful work. I have a question I havent done any veneer work before, I want to try something at my house, do each of those stones on the fireplace require cutting to get them to fit as such? or does the veneer pallets come packaged to fit like that?

Inevitably we're using a grinder and chisels to work each stone as needed. You're obviously not cutting/chiseling every side of every stone rather making adjustements here and there to fit. 99% of the rock we use is hand picked off of a few local mountains.
All of this rock came from one of our vendors who has about 1000 acres about an hour from the jobsite. We have a roll off can truck with 3 dumpsters if you will. We will drop one off at the picking site and while it's being filled we'll typically get another can drop it off... pick up the full can and deliver it to site and keep up this process as needed. It's a pain in the ballz but we typically get a very high % rate of usable stone.

Nice setup I need to do more research in my area to find areas like that. Is it cheaper picking your own?

For a wide open straight run patio surface we can expect anywhere from 75-100 SF a day with one experienced guy and a helper...cut and set. In tighter areas where there are more objects to cut around and fit to I have seen as low as 40-50 SF a day. Generally walkway surfaces that are 3-4' wide with a live edge go much faster than both of those...again with an experienced guy and a helper.
So many variables to just wing a time frame on excavation but I would expect to dig 500Sf approx 10" deep and fill back in with 8" of gravel would take approximately a day with 2 men.... SOOOOO as little as 6 working days for the package and as much as 8 days. All given 10 hour days. All generally speaking of course not knowing the site conditions etc.
Nice setup I need to do more research in my area to find areas like that. Is it cheaper picking your own?
Not neccesarily...these guys are getting good money for the rock they harvest. Again the benefit is a high percentage rate of usable stone and less to dispose of at the end of the job. You just never know with palletized stone. We've all seen pallets that look great on the outside but once you take the top layer of stone off all you basically have in the middle is anywhere from 6-12" rubble.

Post and beam, natural cut stone, wow...no expense spared there. What a beautiful home Mark, any out side pictures in your file worth sharing?
Here's some outside pics.....the landscape was more of a budget job for this project and the homeowner has added some Shotty plants himself over the past year. I think the stonework inside wore a pretty big hole in his pocket but we still do bits and pieces of work for him every year...nothing major just small amounts
