As part of our "Commitment to Service" we inform our customers of plant care and hardscape maintenance at the end of every job. This is an opportunity to sell another service in the future. I tell them basics (hey, they're in the maufacturer's catalog even) Should I use salt or ice melt? No, you should goto Allied and buy the right de-icer. (I think I just earned another beer at the Tun haha) Should I pressure wash? I recommend they don't. I tell the HO to use a cleaner and brush with a garden hose. Why? b/c how many ppl will actually do this? not many, they'll call to have it done. Then recommend sealing after at least 6 months after install. And hey, we do that too! After investing hard earned money into hardscaping, HO's want to protect their investment and are aware the warranty will be voided if they blew out all the joint sand from powerwashing. Looking at Allied's post about replacing joint sand is enough to tell you, if it's avoidable, by all means leave it to the pros.
