This patio is EP Henry Village Square (pewter, charcoal, bluestone mix) with a custom border. We also built a boulder wall here.

I really like how you did the boarder, are you just cutting the larger squares to make those keystone pieces?

My design. We actually transplanted a lot of materials here. I'll have to post more with all the plants and mulch in.

It's one row of pewter 6x6s, one row of charcoal 6x6s, with a 6 x 12- bluestone every 6'. There's a walkway on the side of the house and the 6x12' are staggered on each side.

Really nice the way you tied in the landscaping and the patio it blends nicely. Really like the boulders and the way you used them!

Looks awesome John! I'm not a big fan of the village square pavers, but you made 'em look good. I think boulders that were more gray in color would have a nicer effect.
So how do you like your job? Did you ever think about branching out on your own? It must be nice to have the support of a great company like Northampton Nurseries to share some of the burdens with. It's great to own your own thing, but sometimes I think life would be a lot easier to just focus on sales and designing.

work and design looks like nice John. The only thing that takes away from it is that damn efflorescence. its a nicely scaled pattern for the size area but the stains ruin it for me. does the company you work for offer to remove the efflo.( for a fee of course) or just let it run its course of time? r u laying landings up to those rock steps?

Is there a pattern when laying the village square pavers, or is it random? You might want to tell the installers to watch out for all the "four corners" in the pattern.
Yeah, the efflo is always an issue with EP products. It's primarily because their sand comes from the coast and there is a higher salt content. Techo uses sand from inland and they don't have near the same level of efflo as EP.
We do offer cleaning and sealing as services, but typically I reccommend sealing 6 months after install (you don't have to wait 6 months), but then burden of the bill is gone from the patio install.
The random pattern is random laying. I did see a couple joints now that you pointed it out, but overall I am pleased with the way it turned out. I like Village Square's clean look. It's very modern in my opinion. This is the development that we already did 3-4 other 1000sq+ install and they are all next door to each other. It's been challenging to keep all the designs unique while incorporating the aspects they like at their neighbor's houses. I think the color scheme has a lot to do with this design.
Adam, I have thought about going out on my own many times of course. Right now, with the way the economy is going, loans being sparse, I'm not going to jump out on a limb right now. I enjoy concentrating on the design, marketing and sales aspects of the biz. If I was to leave Northampton Nursery, I would most likely be a consultant or independent designer. I'm not interested in going back into the trench. As long as things keep moving in the right direction for me at Northampton, I will be there for some time.
