I think the proablems are with ice and sliding.

because of the large lug track design on the bobcat you get ZERO traction even in small amounts of snow. If you compare the track design of the ASV and CAT skids your traction is 1000 times better than that of the bobcats. We have 1 Bobcat T3002 years old......can't wait to get rid of it. Nothing but problems, poor service, poor ground speed, the machine shakes and rattles so hard that one day the side wondows vibrated their way right off the tracks and into my lap.

For you guys that use tracked skid steers for snow removal, what about track wear on jobs that are down to asphalt by the time you are cleaning corners?

Mike
There's typically a little slime on the pavement as we're plowing it so the machine turns on the asphalt without much resistance if any.

there is some aftermarket tracks with an agressive tread pattern...

agreed with Mark. We have a T190 and it won't get out of its own way in the snow. It'll just spin and slide. If you're not careful, you'll end up sliding right into a garage, car, etc. I believe you will have the same problem not just with any Bobcat, but with any fixed suspension CTL

the ASV on the other hand performs quite well in the snow, and with wide tracks allows you to stack and pile snow very high. And yes, the asphalt is usually damp enough during snow removal for the machine to slide around freely.

oh, and back to the original post... clean them tracks out, or they will freeze. late in the year, mud during the day will freeze overnite. doesn't make for a fun morning. also, park on boards overnite so you're not frozen to the ground

I had to load Greenmonster t190 on my trailer last year with a little snow on my beaver tail and I almost flipped the thing off the trailer until I put some sand on the beaver tail. It was a bear moving that t190 in the snow.
