Building a stepped free standing (sitting) Wall w/ Coventry and almost done except daps. Originally HO did not want lighting now he does. He bought malibu lights from Home Depot and wants them installed under the caps. Problem is the wall has been glued and I have no clue as to how to run the wire. The malibus are under cap type lights. Any ideas would be much appreciated.:noidea:

pop the caps off and run your wiring in an inconspicuous spot.
Actually I would probably not even install malibu unless I have the HO
sign a waiver saying I'm not responsible for the crappy lights.
When they corrode and stop working in a year, he cant' bemad at you
because you warn him in writing.

BTW not installing the lights the ho is. I have never run lights after the fact nor have I run wiring with EP henry. Techo is easy because of the grooves. Where do you run it with EP??

You could cut grooves in the top row to make them similiar to techo blocks.

Thought about that. Has anyone done lights with EP Henry? If so where do you hide the wires?:noidea:

Clearvalley when you are grinding the top block down to get the caps to sit right you just spend a extra 5 minutes and grind a groove for the wire.

Seriously....damn I love working with that stone...thanks,

I never knew Malibu ripped off the integral style lights. If the HO is installing the lights you can pop the caps as mentioned with a wide chisel. I persoanlly would suggest giving the HO the free advice of buying a diamond blade for his circular saw or grinder and washing your hands of this altogether. After all, if he's installing himself, he must be an "expert HO."

The easiest way to pop the caps off, is by using a pneumatic air chisel with a portable air compressor. They come off quickly and easily. You only need to hand chisel away the adhesive. A stiff putty knife works best. You will not see any chisel marks on the block or cap because of the reveal. The caps can then be re-glued
To run the wire, you will need to saw cut a kerf in the block wide enough to embed your cable. If using wire nuts use the silicone-filled ones, they need to be water proof. You will also need to create a pocket for them. You didn't mention whether or not it's a solid block or hollow block your using, or if it's single or double sided. In any case, you may need to use a small hammer drill (1/4") to provide an acces hole for your fixture wiring. The Malibu's surface mount, so good luck on mounting those to a split face block. You'll also need to drill two anchors per light, in addition to the access hole.
