Why all the valves for an outdoor shower?
Why all the valves for an outdoor shower?
Top valve turns on waterfall
Next one down turns on the shower head
Next one down from that is the temperature control
And the bottom is for the foot wash that you can see in pic #2

Mark
awsome job
when you mortared those stones (big ones) howed you keep them in place?
Did you have to wait for the ones belw to be perfectly dry?
love it how you can't even tell its mortared
FUNNY!!! I'm just glad to see they were clothed!
Yes the smaller stones below had to set first given the size of the larger stones. We used a combination of pins that the larger ones hang on, wall ties that were anchored into the stones and then into the foundation, and every other crazy way we could think of.

Mark, you are effectively the rock king on this site. :first:
I don't know Zedo....I've heard you're pretty good with rock as well. In the one pic I saw of your equipment there was a metal pool with what appeared to be a big boulder carved out to fit over the edge of the pool. First question is...Is that what I really saw. Because if so someone provided a link to the post with that pool and I did not see any boulders on the edge of it. Second question is...what's the deal with the metal in the pool. I've never seen that before

What you saw in that picture is a waterfall made out of hard plastic. Its got nothing to do with me, I design the jobs but don't make decisions on everything, too bad because I don't care for them at all. Most all pools are constructed with steel walls. The gunite pools are about 2 times the price. Here is a close up of the job we are on now.
Zedo
What don't you care for? Am I the only one who has never seen that pool app with the metal walls?

I don't care for fake rocks is what I meant. Yes Mark you are the only one alright.:)
Really, are those pools common? I've never seen one

Up here they are, I think we've done 12 so far this year.

Mark, are you saying that every in-ground pool in NH is gunite? Most pools here are steel wall but gunite is becoming more common.
No, I'm not saying that, I've just never seen the steel. I've just never been on a job that wasn't gunite in the 4 New England states I've lived in and in 13 or 14 years in the industry.
Maybe my fellow New Hampshirite Greenmonster has seen the steel style before???? Mark......?

I am guessing there are very few pools in NH. So the people that do have them must be rich so they get gunite.

we've worked on 4 in ground pools this year, 2 gunite and 2 liner. I've heard that these steel are becoming more popular, as zedo stated, the price point is much lower. can't say that I know much about them though.
So does the steel stay exposed or does it get covered with another product? Is the whole unit steel...I can't imagine it is?

these steel shells I believe have a vinyl liner?
I can't imagine the steel being left exposed

No, its all covered with a vinyl liner.
what's the foundation for this Zedo? I assume it is put together on site in panels? Is the whole thing steel or does it have a floor of another product?

The steel just lines the sides of the pool, the bottom of the pool is grout. Then the liner is stretched over the floor and sides. I don't install pools so I won't get into any more detail than this. Now if you have any questions about the brick work feel free to ask.:)

My sincerest appologies!!!:):):) So, with the brick work......I assume to concrete pad is part of the pool? And you're adhering the pavers to that concrete pad?

We spec how the pad is to be done, height at the steel track and width to support our band of interlock around it. Actually the pool construction is quite simple but my interest lies in the surroundings.
Are you dry setting the pavers in that pic, mortar, or adhesive??

We mortar the bullnose and the outside row of brick. The inside row we typically put a small layer of sand to adjust height. Most often we are dealing with 2 different thicknesses of brick and sometimes three.
