this is a small waterfall that I added on to an existing pond. Because of the lateness in the season, so plants could be added. I'll be back in the late spring to help them with plant selection and rearange some of the existing plants.

the 15sec movie is from my phone so the picture isn't great but it gives you an idea of the babbling brook sound.

oh and the little bit of plastic waterfall piece that you can see is ment to have a 6" potted plant there so you won't see it and the plant will help soften the look.

sorry Grn MTn,
I'm not digging it. granted it does look better than it did.
maybe when the plants are in it'll soften up.
When doing ponds try to break up the ring around the edge.

I agree, however the customer requested that the material used was the flagstone already onsite, as it was I scavanged some boulders to cut the angles a tad. As I mentioned it was too late for plants, you know as well as I do they will make a huge difference. I'll post new picts in the early summer with the new plantings.

I will say this. When I've taken pics of just about every pond I've done the stacked stone comes off as heavy and loses a lot of its dimension. Flagstone is my least favorite material to use in a natural setting as it is so angular. I'm certain that your job is much nicer in person and the plants will make all the difference. I would try to clean up the edge a bit on the top corner of the waterfall shown on the top left of the last pic. Either w/ a few more of the small boulders or just a different way of stacking the flagstone.

It's always a challenge to make a realistic looking pond when your dealing w/ the back of someones home cropping directly out of a flat grassy area. Finding a pond location on a slight to fairly steep embankment is always my favorite as it adds a solid element of realism.

How did you tackle the stream area after the waterfall as far as water retention goes. That is to say did you dig out a swale and overlap the liner by a few feet? If so, how far did you overlap? and how is it for channeling all the water back to the pond?

Later,

Josh
