Two years ago we volunteered to procure materials and supply some labor for the installation of a paver walkway at a local military academy. It was a project that senior classes had attempted to complete for years and with our help, was finally completed.
This year, we procured trees and supplied labor for a reforestation project in a neighboring township.
Do you guys do any volunteer work?

donate landscapes to the Habitat for Humanity, and also donate landscape designs to local school charity auctions, etc.
Yes we do , This season it was an landscape for a RCMP Officer that was slain while on duty..... basically a patio , shrub bed and some sod around a memorial statue.

My church back home is about to begin construction on a large addition. There is a lacking of landscapes much less nice/great ones in the area. I will be donating the landscape upon completion with up to $10,000 in material.
There is a charity founded in my niece's memory that I donate design services toward in silent auctions.

For those that donate designs for silent auctions. Do you have a certain amount of hours or a price that you donate so that when the person wins it they get X amount of hours or an $XXX amount and then they pay the extra if need be?

yes, my details state a 1 hour design consultation, and 1 revision with 2 printed copies of the design.................the thing about donating designs is, there is a good chance you will be the one that does the work

Thats why I am interested in doing it. Not real hard to do and if you land the job even better.

I meet with them to see what it is they're looking for and put together a design for them, to scale. I don't say X hours etc but I'll meet with them 2-3 times as I do with most customers. Yes, it is also a good oportunity to land a job.

I have done some other work for our Habitat for Humanity chapter and have offered to do the hardscaping for our next house. My Techo rep will be helping with the product. Is there anything I should be wary of? Also, what do you guys do to parlay this kind of volunteer work into future sales?

Not so much projects. We have donated shrubs, mulch, to area fund raisers. Has really worked out well for us.

If the decision is made, to do installs upstate when we get there, I've got some projects I will submit to the county and town for free advertising purposes. It will be at no cost to them.
It will add to the county building and the town center while giving some good exposure in the center of it all.
