Yeah, you bad boys ruined it.:)
We want to continue with the contests, but they do result in negative cash flow and the lack of participation really has us questioning the costs/benefits of the contests.
I would like to ask you guys your thoughts on ways to generate more participation. Hell, that can be the August contest. You guys submit ideas and Chris and I will choose the winner. We'll implement the winning idea and see where it goes.

the winner gets 5 prequalified leads for paver patios, 1000sf+, from home owners in their area with lots of disposable income. that should do it. :)

Hey, if all you want is leads, we can probably make that happen. We could engage in Service Magic's practices and supply you with as many leads as you like. No guarantee they will return your phone calls though.

August contest: Hottest Hardscaper. Problem is its not really a contest, my speedo looks especially good on me this year. I think its all the extra chest hair I added over the winter.

Here's a few ideas -
Best use of natural stone - flatwork
Best use of wood in a hardscape
Best surrounding plantings in a hardscape
Best step design in a hardscape
Best use of mixed materials in a hardscape
Best driveway or driveway apron
Best waterfall or pond
Best lighting in a hardscape
Best photograph of a hardscape
Best use of circle patterns in a hardscape
Best pillars in a hardscape
Biggest ego in a hardscape - :) (6 way tie for first for this one)
There's a few ideas for contest. I think as membership grows, so will the level of participation. It's just a matter of keeping the contests going until they take on a life of their own. I don't think the prizes are all that significant in getting people to enter. Maybe moving the contests from the bottom of the page and instead making them a sticky in the hardscape thread would help.

Why not have a poll with a bunch of suggestions and let us decide what we would like to submit photographs to. Each month you could add one or two different catagories, I'm sure it would work. You could also split up the zoning like best canadian hardscape, or best us hardscape. How about best home hardscape from the members of prohardscape. :noidea:

Ok so maybe there could be sub catagories like under 25yrs, and over 25 yrs of age. (or should I say over 45) :)
I just found these monthly contests. I can't believe there was such little participation!!! I think they're a great idea and seem fun. Besides that, I'd love to get my mits on a PH T-shirt.

I'll sell you one, $15, but you've got that project manager physique now, not sure you can squeeze into it.
Besides, what's your suggestion for the next contest? Best pizza oven? Best gunite grotto? Best natural stone cave? Best tornado ravaged rebuild? sheez.

We will get another contest going by the end of the weekend.
BTW, we were looking for ideas to increase participation, not ideas for contests.
Mark (not the genius :)), any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mark.
Not being a genius and all, I'm sure Mark needed the clarification.:)
Oh boy, I won't live the genius thing down will I?
Ideas for participation.....hmmmmm. I thought 50 buckss and a t-shirt was pretty good, heck I'd take just the t-shirt. Oh and don't forget, best overall property that looks like the town of bedrock!

Well, then you qualify to be a member of the PH management that is scratching their collective heads. Congratulations!
BTW, town of Bedrock would go to you, no contest. We decided not to waste $50 and a t-shirt on that.:)
Mike/Chris
For starters, why don't you consider taking the contest out of this sub-forum. Why don't you have a forum 'CONTEST' that is at the top of the lineup so that whenever anybody logs on to the PH homepage that is the first thing they see. Right now with it in the news and events section it doesn't get much traffic.?
Highlight and advertise the win $50 and a PH T-shirt prize so people maybe catch onto what's happening better
Maybe???
