Nice work man. I don't think it looks too bad without the soldier course. I like the slabs.

not bad.
if you have ever traveled to Europe where pavers date back 300(+) years......you WON'T see any borders.

I think it looks good with out the borders, and that is what the home owner wanted too

I think that the most important aspect of a soldier course is to retain and make stable the small cut pieces of pavers that almost always are needed along the borders. If there is a slab, wall, edger etc....they are not always needed. I think that the average homeowner doesn't realize that a soldier course is not only for looks, but plays a roll in longevity.
